MARINA SQUARE UPGRADES
Marina Square is now undergoing extreme makeover, after its debut 18 years ago in 1986. Works have already begun in December 2003 and will complete by end 2005 / early 2006. As the works will be carried out in 3 phases, the mall will remain open for retail business throughout the remodeling process.
The remodeling exercise will bring about spaces with fresh contemporary look and ambience – fully rejuvenated and revitalized. It will also enhance shoppers’ experience by the reconfiguration of trade mix and the refinement of retail zones and themes. Visibility and spatial transparency between the exterior and interior retail spaces are improved with the introduction of glass paneling on the shopfronts, thus presenting a greater showcase effect.
The current Nett Lettable Area will be significantly increased through the enlargement of shopping corridors and the central atrium. With the improved connectivity and accessibility between shops and neighbouring developments, Marina Square and its neighbouring commercial venues will form a conglomerate of retail spaces within the vicinity.
Key works to be carried out during the remodeling include:
The MRT portal - the direct link to the Convention Centre MRT station along the new Circle Line;
The link bridge across Raffles Boulevard - The shopping link way connecting Marina Square to Suntec City;
The Raffles Boulevard entrance – Complete with an oversized 3-D showcase, a 2 storey atrium and a video wall;
Enlarged central atrium and skylight - The central focus and the highlight of the mall from which all circulation leads into;
Alfresco dining concept overlooking the Esplanade – Theatres On The Bay and the huge food court on level 4.
